The SSTG dataset contains global sea surface temperature data spanning from 2002 to 2019, with units in degrees Celsius, a monthly temporal resolution, and a spatial resolution of 0.041°.
The dataset is generated by combining daily satellite-retrieved sea surface temperature data and daily in-situ sea surface temperature observations from two types of infrared radiometers (MODIS, AVHRR) and three types of passive microwave radiometers (AMSR-E, AMSR2, Windsat), followed by correction using a temperature-depth and observation-time calibration model. Accuracy evaluations demonstrate that the reconstructed dataset exhibits notable improvements, making it suitable for the analysis of mesoscale oceanographic phenomena.
