Lake Matano Raw partial 16S rRNA sequences reads. sediment metagenome

In this study sediments from Lake Matano were incubated with excess Fe(III) and methane in order to observe the effects that different phases of Fe(III) oxides have on methane dynamics. The results of this study help explain the how high levels of iron may have affected methane cycling on the early earth. 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing was used to observe any significant enrichment of microbial taxa during the incubation and to make guesses as to the microbial players in iron and methane cycling in the seidments.
