Database on social space of Basque publications, 1930-1979

The database contains information about all the titles contributing to the Basque social space of publications, gathering information about 3.804 publications. As language and place of publication is not enough in order to rebuild the universe of publications of a minoritized culture, the database includes those titles that meet one of the following criteria: titles in Basque language (1), titles in other languages released by publishing houses that have printed, at least, twenty books in Basque (2) or that have had, at least, three reviews by literary magazines or weekly newspapers in Basque of that period (3). The database compiles a number of sources. 1) Books in Basque language were found in the catalogue on the Jakin Foundation website . 2) Reviews from literary magazines were consulted on the Ibinagabeitia Project website and in the weekly newspapers Zeruko Argia and Anaitasuna’s archives. 3) Publishers that met either of the conditions mentioned were found in a systematic search of the Sancho el Sabio Foundation’s Basque Culture catalogue .
