资源简介:
The Eastern Region of Uganda is among the country’s most important citrus-growing zones. Oranges from this region play a vital role in local livelihoods, providing income to smallholder farmers, supporting agro-industrial development, and contributing to food security. However, orange farming faces persistent challenges from destructive citrus diseases that threaten productivity and sustainability. Among the most common and severe are Citrus Canker and Citrus Melanose. To address these threats, a dedicated study was carried out in Eastern Uganda to collect a dataset of orange fruit images representing the health conditions of oranges across local farms. The dataset was gathered using mobile phone cameras, ensuring that the images reflect the real-world conditions typical of smallholder farms' variations in lighting, angles, and backgrounds that farmers encounter daily. By focusing on locally sourced data, the study aimed to create a resource tailored to oranges and focusing on major diseases affecting oranges in the region. Dataset Composition and Characteristics The dataset contains images representing: Healthy Oranges—Providing baseline references for comparison. Citrus Canker -Bacterial lesions that cause blemishes, premature fruit drop, and reduced market value. Melanose – A fungal disease causing dark, raised spots that affect fruit appearance and marketability. Images include different stages of disease progression, from early signs to advanced infections, and capture diverse environmental settings, orange varieties, and conditions. This variety improves the dataset’s robustness for various applications.
