Piaractus mesopotamicus Genome sequencing and assembly. Piaractus mesopotamicus

Piaractus mesopotamicus, popularly known as Pacu, is a freshwater fish that is native to the Paraguay-Parana River basin of South American. This species has historically been widely exploited by the community and commercial fishing, and it is of major importance for South American aquaculture. In this project, we sequence and assemble the first genome for the species, which will benefit new studies and assist genome-assisted breeding programs.
