Loaded freight in international maritime trade 1970-2021

The quantity of loaded goods in international maritime trade between 1970 and 2021 increased, although the years 2020 and 2021 saw a small dip compared with pre-pandemic year. In 2019, the global maritime trade volume amounted to just over 11 billion metric tons of goods loaded, whereas in 2020 and 2021, this volume amounted to some 10.6 and almost 11 billion metric tons, respectively.
