Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2021: Uncertainty Analysis of Seismic Soil Liquefaction using quoFEM

This project provides an in-depth study into an uncertainty analysis performed in the quoFEM application (developed at the UC Berkeley SimCenter) on a sample of Ottawa F65 sand. Data in this project can be reused to continue the processes of sensitivity analysis, Bayesian calibration, and forward propagation on other soil types/samples or to improve the quoFEM application itself. This project is unique because few applications exist that can perform these 3 aforementioned analyses together and sequentially in a stream-lined and efficient manner. The main audience is the computational geotechnical engineering/geomechanics community and the broad audience is the natural hazards engineering community in general.
