The present invention provides a method for manufacturing pulp fibers for cellulose nanofiberization from pulp fibers contained in used sanitary products. This method for manufacturing pulp fibers for use in obtaining cellulose nanofibers from pulp fibers contained in used sanitary products is characterized in comprising a step for forming pulp fibers for use in obtaining cellulose nanofibers in which an ozone-containing gas is supplied to a treatment tank 31 that contains a treatment solution containing a high-absorbency polymer and a pulp-fiber-containing substance 51 that contains pulp fibers， the polymer and substance being derived from used sanitary products， whereby pulp fibers for use in obtaining cellulose nanofibers having a lignin content of 0.1 mass% or less are formed from the aforementioned pulp fibers.
