The infiltration process and soil moisture dynamics in response to rainfall are crucial for subsurface flow generation, landslide hazard control, and hydro-ecosystem management. Geophysical tools such as the electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and self-potential (SP) method significantly enhance our ability to observe water transport within highly heterogeneous subsurface environments. Despite their efficacy, these methods encounter d uncertainties related to the data interpretation. To address these issues, joint use of these tools emerges as a preferred methodology, aiming to reduce the multi-solution of data interpretation and realize the detailed spatial-temporal measurements of soil moisture dynamics and the water movement direction during precipitation. Our observations indicate that the joint use of ERT and SP has proven useful in providing greater temporal and spatial subsurface information and making connections to water content or water flux. The combination application method proposed in this study can be used to solve similar scientific problems under different hydrological conditions in other research areas.
