Wastewater treatment plants are considered hotspots in the spread of antibiotic resistance. Wastewater samples were cultured with differing media sources and incubation temperatures with individual antibiotic amendments to assess resistant phenotypes and abundances throughout each stage of the treatment process. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was then performed to assess cultivable resistant bacterial compositions.
