Dataset and Simulation Model for "Decision Support for Critical Minerals Supply Resilience: An Integrated Dynamic Material Flow Analysis–System Dynamics Model of Japan's Special Steel Supply Chain"

This Zenodo record provides the curated time-series dataset and the system dynamics (SD) model used in the study “Decision Support for Critical Minerals Supply Resilience: An Integrated Dynamic Material Flow Analysis–System Dynamics Model of Japan’s Special Steel Supply Chain.” The study develops an annual dynamic material flow analysis (DMFA) baseline by integrating (i) material flow analysis (MFA) based on mass conservation and (ii) SD that endogenizes decision rules and delays in production and inventory control. Using publicly available statistics, the model reconstructs historical product-flow dynamics for Japan’s special-steel supply chain (production, shipments, and inventories). Purpose and use. This record is provided as an auditable baseline. It is not intended to rank intervention options; rather, it enables transparent replication of historical behavior (structural plausibility and data consistency) and supports future scenario-based comparisons of supply-resilience levers (e.g., collection, sorting, stockpiling, and import diversification) when intervention designs and KPIs are specified.
