Dataset of the Most-Watched Films on Netflix Spain (2021–2026)

This repository contains the dataset and supplementary materials associated with the study "What is watched on Netflix Spain? Exploring country of production, genre, IMDb ratings, and persistence (2021–2026)". The dataset includes all unique films that appeared in Netflix Spain's weekly Top 10 rankings between 28 June 2021 and 15 March 2026, together with metadata retrieved through the Open Movie Database (OMDb) and derived primarily from IMDb. In addition to the final dataset, the repository includes the documentation and materials required to understand and reproduce the data collection procedure, including a variable dictionary, a Python script used to retrieve metadata through the OMDb API, software requirements, repository documentation, and licensing information. These materials are provided in accordance with Open Science principles to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and the reuse of the dataset in future research on streaming platforms and audiovisual consumption.
