Dataset accompanying: A contribution to citizen science: Practical interpretation of BirdNET confidence categories in smartphone-based bird surveys.

This dataset accompanies the manuscript "A contribution to citizen science: Practical interpretation of BirdNET confidence categories in smartphone-based bird surveys." It contains the complete set of BirdNET identifications analyzed in the study, including confidence categories, sampling information, and the manual validation scores used to assess identification reliability. A second worksheet contains the random subsample of recordings manually validated by the author. Manual validation was performed by comparing each BirdNET species identification with the corresponding vocalization in the Macaulay Library/eBird reference database, following the scoring criteria described in the manuscript. These data support the analyses of BirdNET confidence categories and their interpretation for improving data quality in citizen science bird surveys.
