Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Hanwell Solar Farm, Banbury, Oxfordshire, November to December 2023

This collection consists of images, spreadsheets and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology. Work occurred at Hanwell Solar Farm, Banbury, Oxford, from November and December 2023. Archaeological features were identified in 26 of the trenches; the earliest activity corresponded to the Roman period. Little evidence for activity pre-dating the Roman period was identified during the fieldwork and comprised a small assemblage of broadly late prehistoric pottery, and one residual flint flake. Medieval to post-medieval activity was also identified across the site. The remains of ridge and-furrow agricultural systems were encountered in 33 of the trenches. A number of ditches and pits identified during the fieldwork remain undated; these features did not contain any artefactual material
