VPRS 17632 Inward Correspondence Register

This series consists of the Correspondence Book, functioning as a Register of Inward Correspondence, which was maintained as part of the recordkeeping system to manage council correspondence. As each item of correspondence was received by the Council, it was registered using a sequential single number for the particular month in which the item was received.Information recorded in the volume includes the date of receipt, from whom the letter was sent, a summary of the subject matter of the correspondence, the amount of any monies received, whether the item of correspondence was referred to the Engineer or Rate Office, and the File Reference. A fuller summary of the subject matter of the correspondence can be found in the Council Minutes (VPRS 16777). The correspondence files that this register relates to however are no longer extant.
