PRIORITY DIRECTIONS FOR OPTIMIZING PHARMACEUTICAL CARE FOR GASTROENTEROLOGICAL PATIENTS

This thesis examines the priority directions for optimizing pharmaceutical care for gastroenterological patients. Gastrointestinal diseases are often chronic and require long-term, multi-component pharmacotherapy, which makes patients especially vulnerable to adverse drug reactions, irrational medicine use, and reduced adherence. In this regard, pharmaceutical care plays an essential role in improving treatment safety, effectiveness, and quality of life. The study identifies the main directions of optimization, including rational pharmacotherapy, pharmacovigilance, improvement of patient counseling, prevention of polypharmacy-related risks, adherence to clinical guidelines, and strengthening cooperation between pharmacists and physicians. Particular attention is given to the role of pharmacists in detecting drug-related problems, educating patients, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines in gastroenterological practice. The results of the analysis show that a patient-centered and evidence-based approach to pharmaceutical care can significantly improve clinical outcomes and reduce medication-related risks in gastroenterological patients. The study also highlights the relevance of this issue in the context of ongoing pharmaceutical reforms and healthcare development in Uzbekistan.
