The Daly Gap in Arcs and the Interaction Between Magma Mixing and Degassing in the Archibarca Pluton: Studies from the Early Palaeozoic Famatinian Arc, Argentina

Magma mixing is a key process in arc magmatism, recorded from regional geochemical trends to mineral-scale signatures. This thesis investigates the origin of compositional bimodality in arcs and the role of volatiles during hybridization, using the Famatinian Arc as a case study. Global geochemical and isotopic data show that bimodality is actively maintained by the balance between magma replenishment and homogenizing processes, rather than produced by mixing alone. Detailed petrographic and mineralogical analyses demonstrate that volatile-rich fluids are active agents during hybridization, modifying textures, element distributions, and affecting the reliability of common petrochronometers.
