South River oyster restoration project Rejuvenating a tributary : Enhancement of oyster habitat, broodstock and ecological diversity in South River, Maryland

Seed oysters and shell were planted in a low salinity tributary of Chesapeake Bay to improve oyster habitat and oyster populations. The purpose was to increase oyster broodstock and available setting surfaces to provide for the natural restoration of the river's oyster population via spawning and setting. These results were not expected in the time frame of this grant, but this grant laid the foundation for such restoration to occur in the future. Grant no. NA66FU0423
