Oregano is a valuable medicinal and aromatic properties because of their potent antimicrobial properties against various pathogens. Here, through the assembly and annotation of O. vulgare and O. vulgare subsp. hirtum via HiFi and Hi-C technologies, their genomes were revealed at the chromosome level, which contained 15 chromosomes. Through deep analyses of the sequencing data, in conjunction with comparative genomic, phylogenetic, transcriptomic, and metabonomic, we found many regulatory factors and genes related to monoterpenoids and glandular secretory trichomes (GSTs).
