Hook (100) for a log measurement tape (20)， comprisinga main body (110) with an elongated side (111);a tape fastening means (120)， arranged to fasten the main body to the tape; and a foldable hook means (130) with an elongated side (131) and a sharp hook point (132)， wherein the hook means pivotally engages with the main body at a pivot axis (P)， wherein a first side (T1) of a folding triangle (T) is a part of the main body elongated side between the tape fastening means and the pivot axis，wherein a second side (T2) of the triangle is a part of the hook means elongated side between the pivot axis and the hook point， andwherein the triangle has a folding angle (A) between the first and second sides.The invention is characterised in thatthe said pivotal engagement prevents the hook means to be folded in a first angular direction past 90°， and allows the hook means to be folded in a second angular direction of less than 90°.The invention also relates to a method.
