Part-Time Working Men and Househusbands (Partners, 2nd Wave)

Follow-up survey of partners of part-time working men and
househusbands. Description of domestic and company situation.

Topics: psychological self-characterization (scale); general
contentment with life and its change in the last few years; time worked
each week and overtime; work days per week; change in working hours
since living together with partner and reasons for change; desire for
change in working hours; reasons for a possible increase in working
hours or reduction in working hours; influence and attitude of partner
on this change; degree of freedom of decision at work; paid secondary
occupation and work days per week; hours for work taken home;
information on activities and occupations since last survey in monthly
segments; division of labor in the household and in raising children or
child care; relation to partner (scale); assessment of the care with
which the partner does the housework and perhaps personal improvements;
relationship to children; effects of reduced working hours of partner
on family life; time perspective for a change of current situation;
reasons for an increase in desired working hours or reduction; number
of children; desire for children; social trends by which one is
influenced; experience with a group sharing a residence and length of
living in such a community.

The following additional questions were posed to respondents who were
housewives: satisfaction with being a housewife; desire for full-time
or part-time employment; desired number of hours each week.

Interviewer rating: presence of other persons during the interview and
their relationship to the respondent; intervention in the interview;
reliability and willingness of respondent to cooperate.

Also encoded were: length of interview; date of interview; sex of
interviewer; age of interviewer as well as a note whether the same
interviewer conducted the interview in the first survey wave.
