Open Dataset for Recognition of Brazilian Counterfeit Banknotes(BankNote-Br)

The crime of currency counterfeiting is very common in Brazil and around the world, being responsible for the volume of almost 28.78 million reais counterfeited in 2022. This type of crime, provided for in the criminal code, affects, in addition to the general population, such as people with visual impairment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2022, the population of people with visual impairment represents around 2.2 billion people in the world. These people feel helpless, as limitations can be affected by visual impairment, making it difficult to identify the security elements contained in a true hidden banknote. For this reason, Assistive Technology (AT), which is products or equipment that aim to assist people with disabilities in their daily tasks, related to fake banknote recognition should be developed in order to assist these people in their daily lives. In view of this, the objective of this work is to present a set of data that helps other researchers to develop approaches, analyzes and TA's in order to mitigate this problem that impacts so many Brazilians.
