AljiMap-SE: Rainwater Cistern Database in the Campo de Cartagena-Mar Menor Area

The population settlement in an area of territory with semi-arid characteristics, such as the Region of Murcia and the SE of the Iberian Peninsula by extension, depended on having a secured water supply. Before the arrival of the waters from the Taibilla, there were cisterns in the population centers as a system of water storage that guaranteed its availability where there were no springs or rivers. AljiMap-SE is presented, a public database on cisterns in the Campo de Cartagena-Mar Menor, which promotes collaboration and knowledge about these vital systems. This database offers detailed and precise information about each cistern, including its location, type, and current state.
