A long-term multi-scale traffic safety dataset for Jordan (1985–2024)

This repository provides a harmonized multi-scale dataset on road traffic safety in Jordan covering the period 1985–2024. The dataset integrates annual national traffic statistics with higher-frequency monthly records of traffic accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Monthly observations span January 1997 to December 2024 for injuries and fatalities, while monthly accident counts are available through December 2018, reflecting changes in official reporting practices. All data were extracted from publicly available annual Traffic Accident Reports issued by the Jordanian Public Security Directorate (PSD) and subsequently digitized, cleaned, and harmonized into machine-readable formats. The annual dataset includes raw outcome variables, exposure indicators (population and registered vehicles), and derived rate-based and severity indicators. The dataset is intended to support descriptive, comparative, and methodological research in traffic safety, including time-series analysis, forecasting, intervention studies, and cross-country comparisons.
