China's High-speed Rail “Going Global” Termbase

Standardization of terms and internationalization of relevant standards have become an important foundation for China’s high-speed railway “going global”. This paper expounds the contents and methods of the construction of multilingual high-speed railway termbase from the perspective of conceptual system, including term collection, extraction, translation and review, termbase construction, maintenance and management, etc. The termbase completed could be applied to various fields such as translation practice related to high-speed railway, compilation of high-speed railway term dictionary and teaching practice of BTI and MTI. The termbase will contribute to the standardization, specification and unification of high-speed rail terms. It is conducive to the enhancement of China’s high-speed rail’s international competition advantages, enabling China’s high-speed rail products, technologies and services to “go global” indeed.
