The data on prevalence and years lived with disability (YLDs) of Severe vision loss (SVL) and refractive disorders (RD)

In 2023, there were 32.96 million SVL cases and 5.84 million YLDs, rising since 1990, while RD cases reached 131.75 million with 5.16 million YLDs; burdens were higher for females, driven by aging, especially in those 95+ for SVL and 80-84 for RD, with low-middle SDI regions most affected and projections indicating rising cases but declining ASPR and ASYR by 2050.
