资源简介:
This series contains agendas and supporting documentation from meetings of the committee regarding matters relating to the medical, dental and veterinary x-ray apparatus to be used for diagnostic purposes, to ensure that all apparatus conforms to appropriate standards. The intent was that the sale of equipment to inappropriate buyers would cease, unsafe machines would be condemned and equipment generally would have to be maintained to a proper standard.Under section 31 of the Radiation Control Act 1990, the Radiation Advisory Council could establish committees to help it perform its functions. The Council could expand the range of expertise and experience available to it by forming a committee that had a significant degree or autonomy to consider, advise and to act to matters referred by the Radiation Advisory Council who provide advice to the Minister for the Environment and the EPA on technical and policy matters in relation to managing radiation in NSW within the parameters of the Radiation Control Act 1990 and the Radiation Control Regulation 2013.In the minutes of the Medical and Radiation Hygiene Committee on 5 April 1991, the Radiation Advisory Council decided to recommend that two committees be formed: the Medical Radiation Committee which would deal with all matters pertaining to medical usage and the Health Physics committee which would deal with all non-medical uses. These committees were to have the same membership and meet at the same time. Minutes of the Conjoint Medical Radiation and Health Physics Committees meeting on 30 July 1991, show Dr Cashman of the Radiation Advisory was convenor and chairman and it was attended by 23 persons. On 16 June 2000 the Radiation Advisory Council agreed to disband the Medical Radiation the Health Physics committees and form the Radiation Advisory Council Technical Committee. Membership, terms of reference and standing operating procedures were also agreed to.
