Data was collected for the electric resistance of individual ZnO:Sb microwires as a function of time. ZnO:Sb micro-wires are known to have 'persistent photo-conductance', which means that the conductance (resistance) rises (drops) significantly upon exposure to light and then starts dropping (rising) quite slowly over tens of hours when light is turned off. The ZnO:Sb wire surface was briefly treated by immersion into a solvent droplet (in situ while resistance is being measured). The droplet was allowed to dry out in ambient atmospher, thus chemically treating the wire surface only for a couple of minutes. Very large changes in the wire resistance were observed for IPA droplets, but not for other solvents like, water, acetone and ethanol. This ability to rapidly change the 'persistant resistance' can be very important in sensor applications that require short response times.
