Changes in the fecal microbiome of laying hens by high throughput sequencing metagenomics

Chicken gastrointestinal microbiota plays important roles in health, productivity, and diseases. However, knowledge of the relationship between heat stress and gut microbial ecosystem of poultry, especially laying hens, are still limited nowadays. To investigate the components and functional differences of gut microbiota of normal and high temperature treated laying hens, high throughput sequencing metagenomics were performed on aged laying fecal contents.
