Cat Welfare and Management- RSPCA Australia & Animal Welfare Victoria (2023/2024).

This dataset contains aggregated welfare outcome data pertaining to cats in the Victorian animal welfare system. The dataset contains animal welfare and management data compiled from publicly available sources (RSPCA Australia National Statistics Reports (22/23 and 23/24) and Animal Welfare Victoria 2023 and 2024 Combined Shelter and Pound datasets). This includes admissions, animal welfare outcomes, rehoming and euthanasia (and the reasons for). The dataset covers multiple reporting years and has been combined for exploration and analysis. The variables examined are intake figures, outcome proportions (calculated as rates) and reasons for euthanasia. The intended use for this dataset is to extend exploratory analysis and discussion relevant to cat welfare in Australia. Data were manually extracted from annual reports and represented in a single dataset for visualisation purposes.
