Genetic variation of the pathogen leads to its antibiotic resistance andpathogenicity changes. The underlying mechanisms of these changes are unclear. We recently isolated and reported a rare pathogen, Bergeyella cardium BC and obtained its variant B. cardium BCP. In addition to pan-tolerance of different antibiotics, BCP strain also exhibited phenotypic changes such as resistance to complement clearance, down-regulating the expression of inflammatory factors and promoting the death of mouse bone marrow macrophages, and significantly enhancing the pathogenicity of mice. Based on this, we speculate that long-term use of antibiotics induces B. cardium undergoes a genetic variant that induces hostinnate immune specific regulation. In this study, we aim to analyze the underlying mechanisms of these changes.
