In this project, we performed directed evolution on an E. coli Nissle 1917 strain to increase the yields of extracellular protein through the curli secretion pathway. We performed random mutagenesis on the E. coli genome, and selected and sequenced variants with improved secretion properties. The whole-genome sequencing revealed the mutations accumulated by the secretor strains.
