North American sugar output by country 1885-1988

Between 1885 and 1988, the U.S. was the largest producer of sugar in mainland North America. Unfortunately, the source lacks data from sugar produced from beets before 1928, however the combined U.S. output of sugar produced from beet and cane exceeds those of Mexico and Canada in all of these years. Today, both the U.S. and Mexico are among the largest sugar producing nations in the world, with 7.3 and 5.4 metric tons produced in 2019/2020 respectively.
