Vegetation map of Signy Island, South Orkney Islands (Antarctica)

In this repository are inclueded two files (.xlsx; .shp) that implemented the physiognomic and phytosociological map of Signy Island, South Orkney Island (maritime Antarctica). One file (.xlsx) contains the 1287 phytosociological relevés carried out in the field in the majority (>90%) of the vegetation patches identified during the austral summers austral summers 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2025/26. Only diagnostic and dominant species were recorded. For each vegetation patches (column, in the xls file) there are the following variables. Variables:• IDrele: identifier of the vegetation relevés• PCA group: vegetation community clusters identified by the multivariate analyses (PCAs)• Association (Smith 1972): plant association, in agreement with the syntaxonomy of the vegetation of Signy Island (Smith 1972) • TotCov%: total vegetation cover (u.m. %), relative to each vegetation pathches For each Taxa were also reported the plant types and the growth forms (Ochyra et al. 2008; Øvstedal & Smith 2001). One file (shapefiles; made by 6 different files + legend color file), with projected coordinate system WGS84/UTM zone 23S (EPSG: 32723).
