Marine fauna sightings during a 3D Survey along the west coast of Southern Africa: Insights from visual monitoring aboard the R.V. Ramform Atlas

This dataset consists of marine fauna sightings collected through visual monitoring during a 3D survey conducted by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) on behalf of Searcher Seismic along the west coast of Southern Africa, onboard the R.V. Ramform Atlas. The visual monitoring, which spanned 108 days of dedicated observation, recorded a total of 35 marine fauna sightings. This dataset provides crucial insights into the presence and distribution of marine mammals in the region, significantly contributing to conservation efforts and enhancing our understanding of marine ecosystems. The data sharing was facilitated through the South African Marine Research and Exploration Forum (SAMREF) an Operation Phakisa Oceans Economy Lab project.
