Comparison of antigen presentation of influenza A nucleoprotein expressed in attenuated AroA- Salmonella typhimurium with that of live virus.

Two DR1-restricted T cell clones generated by in vitro stimulation with Influenza X31 and shown to be epitope specific proliferate in response to HLA-matched monocytes or the monocytic cell line THP-1 incubated with either recombinant nucleoprotein or heat-killed X-31 virus. By contrast, live PR8 virus infected cells are less effciently recognized. Fixation of APCs showed that levels of peptide at the monocyte surface sufficient for T cell recognition is attained at least 2 hours after incubation with rNP or live PR8 virus.
