miRNAs expression profiling of wounds of diabetic foot ulcer rat

A major complication of diabetes is diabetic foot ulcers. To date, there is no definitive treatment to prevent ulcers, and millions of patients suffer from the physiological and psychosocial effects of ulcers. Traditional Chinese medicine-- Zizhu ointment exhibits its own characteristics and advantages in treating diabetic foot ulcer by promoting wound healing. However, the mechanisms remain largely unknown. Accumulating evidences indicate that mirco RNAs play important roles in wound healing. In this study, we explored the mechanism that Zizhu ointment promoted wound healing of diabetic foot ulcer by detecting the differential expression profiling of miRNAs between wounds by Zizhu ointment treated and untreated diabetic rats using miRNA-Seq assays.
