This series is a set of photograph albums of the Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne 1888. They were presented to ‘His Excellency the Right Honourable Lord Carrington Governor and Commander-in-Chief of New South Wales’ by the Executive Commissioners of the International Exhibition Melbourne.The album titled 'Photographic views of NSW Court - Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne 1888' contains photographic images of the exhibits in the allotted space devoted to the colony of New South Wales within the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. The dimensions of the album is 360mm x 440mm x 35mm and features tooled full leather bindings, gilt-edged pages and cloth-hinged leaves consisting of photographs with descriptive labels at the bottom of each image.The second album contains portraits of the Executive Commissioners for the International Exhibition, Melbourne 1888, along with photographs of the exhibits and exhibition. The photographs have the stamp Johnstone & Shannessy & Co Pty in the bottom left hand corner.The dimensions of the album are 400mm x 630mm x 55mm and feature tooled full leather bindings, gilt-edged pages, and cloth-hinged leaves consisting of photographs with descriptive labels at the bottom of each image.NoteJohnstone & O'Shannessy had photographic studios at 55 Collins Street East, Melbourne, Victoria, from 1888 to 1891.
