Environmental DNA, historical records, and citizen science support biodiversity baselines in urbanized estuaries

We tested whether there was temporal variation in Tree of Life (ToL) metabarcoding data based on seawater sampling at two sites within a highly urbanized temperate estuary (Sydney Harbour, Australia). These ToL-metabarcoding data were additionally used to asses the degree of overlap with historical natural history collections and citizen science observations of marine biodiversity.
