HSV-1 strain McKrae was isolated in 1965 and has been utilized by many laboratories. Three HSV-1 strain McKrae stocks have been previously sequenced, revealing discrepancies in key genes. We sequenced the genome of HSV-1 strain McKrae from Dr. James Hill, to better understand the genetic differences between isolates.
