Root-knot nematodes of the genus Meloidogyne are an interesting model group for centromere study due to their polyploidy, parthenogenetic reproduction and holocentric chromosomal organization. We characterized CenH3 proteins and in order to investigate sequences associated with most dominant alphaCenH3, native chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by next-generation sequencing (ChIP-seq) was performed on M. incognita.
