资源简介:
These data relate to an investigation into the wake structure and propulsive efficiency during jet propulsion swimming in the chambered nautilus (Nautilus pompilius). The propusive efficiency is relatively high for an animal that swims by jet propulsion and is related to the use of asymmetrical contractile cycles. Efficienct locomotion may be an adaptation to reduce the metabolic demands and protect the animal against hypoxia while foraging at depth.
