Ocean model output for "Mesoscale structure and ocean impacts of a powerful May 2025 storm at the West Antarctic sea ice margin"
收藏资源简介:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology general circulation model (MITgcm, https://github.com/MITgcm/MITgcm) output used in the study "Mesoscale structure and ocean impacts of a powerful May 2025 storm at the West Antarctic sea ice margin" by Maclennan et al. The model domain covers the Amundsen Sea, West Antarctica (140°W to 80°W and 76°S to 62°S). The model grid and output has 1/10 degree lateral resolution and 50 vertical levels. The model includes ocean, ice-shelf and sea-ice thermodynamics components. The model is forced using ERA5 using atmosphere data for the period 1979-2025. Output data is daily for the year 2025. 4 NetCDF files are included in the dataset: state2D.nc.zip stateExf.nc.zip stateTheta.nc.zip stateSalt.nc.zip data* files are MITgcm namelist files and provide specific parameters used in this model configuration (full configuration also here: https://github.com/mhaigh/PAS_668). The file data.diagnostics can be used to check the output variables stored within each NetCDF file. *.data and *.meta files are standard MITgcm grid files and their metadata. Also included are two *.npy (Python NumPy) files which provide the model output climatology (1979-2024) for the net surface heat flux (oceQnet) and net surface freshwater flux (oceFWflx). This work was funded by the NERC PICANTE project, NE/Y503290/1.
