Austwickia chelonae was one of pathogens that causes dermatophilosis. In our study, A. chelonae was identified to be the pathogen that causes the cutaneous granuloma in the critically endangered crocodile lizards (Shinisaurus crocodilurus). The genome sequence generated for A. chelonae was a useful data point in the understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of the cutaneous granuloma in the crocodile lizards.
