Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are a population of liver fibroblasts responsible for fibrogenesis in many liver diseases. Sm16 is a protein released by Schistosoma mansoni that has immunomodulatory activity against several human cell populations.In this study, we have exposed LX-2 cells, an immortalized human HSC line, to synthetic derivatives of Sm16 to identify the transcriptomic responses that follow.
