In this study, we characterized the active rhizosphere microbiome from two highbush blueberry farms (high and low productivity soils from each farm) and compared them with adjacent forest soils. Stable isotope probing (SIP) was used to detect the amino acid-metabolizing soil microbial communities. Both bacterial and eukaryotic near full-length ribosomal operon profiling with the Oxford Nanopore MinION was used to characterize the soil microbiome.
