This study aimed to identify genes involved in heterostyly in Turnera subulata. The presence of the S-locus genes (TsYUC6, TsSPH1, and TsBAHD) in the S-morph results in differences in gene expression between the two floral morphs. By comparing gene expression in stamen and pistil of the S- and L- morph, we can potentially identify genes that are important for male or female self-incompatibility or morphology.
