Annual average sales value of midscale ryokan in Japan FY 2012-2018

In fiscal year 2018, midsized ryokans in Japan recorded on average an annual sales revenue of around 706 billion Japanese yen, recovering from a record low in the previous fiscal year. Ryokan refers to Japanese style inns furnished in a traditional manner, with rooms covered with tatami mats and sliding doors.
