Chlamydia trachomatis 434/Bu. This is a biovar, serovar L2 strain. Serovar L2 strains are associated with sexually transmitted infections. L2 strains cause lymphogranuloma vernerum, a systemic infection which infects monocytes and spreads to lymph nodes causing swelling. This strain will be used for comparative analysis with other Chlamydia trachomatis strains.
