WAU014 - Wauyai Ma'ya - Morphosyntactic data

This dataset contains elicited morphosyntactic data from the Wauyai dialect of Ma'ya with Pilipus Gimla (born 1955), a native speaker of Wauyai Ma'ya. The data includes nominal clauses; constituent interrogatives; comparative constructions; and pronominal paradigms (including inanimate pronouns). At the beginning of the recording, there are also some checks on the prosodic specifications of basic vocabulary items elicited in earlier sessions. The session was recorded on 22 February 2023, in Waimalata hamlet (Waigeo island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian (PF19@004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920@342)'.
